Knecht Electrical Estimating provides remote consultations for construction professionals throughout the United States. Each consultation is led by a Texas Master Electrician with field, estimating, and electrical-construction instruction experience.

The consultation can address a specific question, provide a high-level project review, or help determine which estimating service is appropriate for your situation.

A general consultation does not automatically include a detailed review of project drawings or specifications.

Consultation With Bid-Document Review

When project documents need to be examined, the consultation may include a focused review of agreed drawings, specifications, addenda, or other bid information.

This option may be appropriate when you need help:

• Understanding an unclear project requirement

• Identifying apparent drawing or specification conflicts

• Reviewing a particular system or area

• Finding missing information

• Developing Request for Information questions

The written proposal will identify which documents and subjects are included in the review.

The consultation is customized around the contractor’s stated needs. It is intended to provide professional guidance—not automatically produce a complete project estimate.

What You Must Provide

To make the consultation productive, please provide:

• Current drawings, specifications, addenda, and revisions

• Existing estimate or takeoff files, when applicable

• Supplier or subcontractor quotations, when applicable

• Known scope information

• Assumptions or exclusions already being considered

• Important deadlines

• Specific systems or areas you want reviewed

• Previous clarifications or correspondence affecting the issue

Providing focused questions before the consultation helps ensure the available time is used effectively.

What Is Not Automatically Included

Unless specifically included in the accepted proposal, an electrical estimating consultation does not automatically include:

• Complete quantity takeoff

• Full electrical estimate

• Independent material pricing

• Complete labor-hour development

• Complete bid-document review

• Formal bid-readiness review

• Customer-facing proposal

• Engineering or electrical design

• Sealed drawings or calculations

• Code-compliance certification

• Legal, tax, insurance, or contract advice

• Site visits or field verification

• Formal submission of Requests for Information

• Contact with owners, designers, general contractors, or suppliers

• Guaranteed bid acceptance or project profitability

• Unlimited meetings, questions, or revisions

If the consultation reveals that additional work is needed, a separate proposal may be provided for a full estimate, quantity takeoff, bid-document review, estimate review, or another appropriate service.

After the Consultation

Following the consultation, you may receive recommendations such as:

• Proceed with the available information

• Obtain missing drawings or specifications

• Request clarification from the project team

• Add a documented assumption or exclusion

• Obtain supplier or subcontractor quotations

• Revise quantities, labor hours, or pricing

• Complete a formal bid-document review

• Request a full electrical estimate

• Decline or postpone the bidding opportunity

The final bidding and business decisions remain with the electrical contractor.
